Well, there are the clichés: cattle and Stetsons and pointy-toe cowboy boots. Oil wells and Willie and barbeque for breakfast. But that’s enough of that because Texas — and Dallas, in particular — is no longer a dusty, tumbleweed theme park. It’s vibrant, complicated, cutting edge, ultra-modern, multi-cultural, multi-everything.
Here’s what you have to look forward to:
– Keynote and other featured speakers will include many of the nation’s most respected journalists, writers, designers, artists and thinkers drawn from the professional and scholastic ranks.
– The 300-plus sessions will be geared toward helping attendees utilize the latest technologies in tackling the most challenging, seemingly intractable issues facing young people today.
– World-class shopping. A great zoo. An amazing aquarium. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the George W. Bush Presidential Center and the Dallas Museum of Art. For those willing to venture out, Fort Worth is an art mecca, and Arlington is the entertainment center of the state.
– DART Rail makes getting around the Metroplex easier than ever and now runs from DFW Airport to Eddie Bernice Johnson Union Station in downtown Dallas.
So, here’s the Big Deal: the 2017 Fall JEA/NSPA convention in Dallas will showcase big names, big ideas, big stories and big events, all aimed at helping you take a big step forward in producing the best publications, broadcasts and student journalism possible.
So, in November, go Big.
