Mid-West Family Broadcasting – Sports Host-Part Time

Details:

Mid-West Family Broadcasting in Madison, Wisconsin is searching for a part-time sports host on 106.7 FM / 1670 AM The Zone. This position involves hosting a sports show, board-oping games, and fill-in work as a producer on the morning show.

This position may also require personnel to fill air-shifts, including weekends and various remote appearances as scheduled. Qualified candidates should have experience in radio production, on-air presentation, Adobe Audition, podcasting, minor web updating and photo editing. The qualified candidate should also have at least two years of radio station experience.

Experience:

Qualified candidates should be creative, imaginative, have good communication and organizational skills. The candidate should have some knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and have the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects.

Through nine, daylong seminars – once a month, from September through June — this fellowship program provides a primer on Washington agencies, institutions and organizations, while delivering fresh sources, story ideas and unparalleled opportunities to get to know and learn from other journalists. Enhance and add insight to your reporting with:

  • On-the-record access to officials, experts and seasoned journalists
  • Site visits
  • Innovative online tools training
  • Journalism issues discussions

Applications are encouraged from journalists who have been based in Washington for less than two years, regardless of platform or experience. This may include international journalists based in Washington, DC. Reporters will be selected competitively for these prestigious fellowships. Supervisors must agree to allow reporters to attend program days.

Justice at Stake Seeks Deputy Communications Director for Washington, DC Headquarters

Justice at Stake, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the impartiality and integrity of the U.S. judicial system, is seeking a Deputy Communications Director for its Washington, D.C. office. This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate with exceptional writing, speaking, presentation, organizational, research, planning and computer skills to join a highly motivated team dedicated to protecting the courts that safeguard our rights. As an organization committed to diversity and equality, we are interested in candidates who can bring multiple perspectives and fresh insights to fair-courts issues, as well as strong professional credentials and a commitment to our mission.

The Deputy Communications Director works closely with and reports to the Director of Communications, and acts as backup to the Director on long-range projects and daily execution of tasks. Due to the demands of a fast-paced, high-volume workload, the Deputy Director must be able to perform tasks at Director level when called upon to do so. The Deputy will be deeply involved in every aspect of communications activities; the ability to exercise mature judgment, flexibility and poise will be essential attributes of the successful candidate. The communications efforts of Justice at Stake, a 501(c)(3) organization, and its sister organization the Justice at Stake Campaign, a 501(c)(4) organization, will be reviewed and likely will be revised in 2013.

The successful candidate will be able to juggle multiple special projects on differing deadlines while maintaining responsibility for numerous daily operations essential to communications functions. The Deputy Communications Director has lead editorial responsibilities on several signature publications, including the widely-cited New Politics of Judicial Elections and the organization’s annual report. The Deputy Director has primary responsibility for increasing Justice at Stake’s social media communications efforts and for coordinating with the organization’s grassroots public education and advocacy efforts on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube; performs extensive internet and database research, including analyses of campaign spending; drafts news releases, web text, blog posts, newsletters and op-eds; participates in multimedia projects including videography and video editing; and assists with media outreach, including generating story ideas and pitching reporters. He or she takes a lead role in organizing Justice at Stake events, speaking at them, and coordinating activities with partner organizations.
